Every successful journey requires consistent commitment to a proper game plan.
Years ago I sat in a college classroom wondering why none of my ideas were working out as I had planned they would. After days, weeks and even months of working hard, I had to get completely honest with myself and admit that I was not really persistent and consistent in the work I was doing.
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Calvin Coolidge
Any successful person can tell you that doing a good job one time will not lead you to lasting success. When I realized this truth I began to look back and see that there had been many times where I started off good then slacked off. Later I would pick back up but never really accomplish the goal I had set.
Many people believe that working hard will lead them to success, but in reality you can work as hard as you can but still never experience the achievements and success you desire. Like many other successful people I had to learn how to be consistent at my hard work. Consistent commitment is a two word phrase that most people don’t talk about much.
If you think of it in terms of taking a road trip in a car the phrase can make more sense. Imagine a lady that gets in the car with her friends to head for the beach. The driver gets in the car steps on the gas and off they go. Two seconds later the driver takes their foot off the gas and the car begins to slowly come to a stop. With no cruise control we can clearly see that this group will not make it to the beach, because the driver did not stay consistent with giving the car gas to go.
Let us all take a note for our lives; having goals and a game plan are great but without consistent effort our goals will probably never become a reality. A mentor of mine once told me success always belongs to those who can stand the test of time and stay steady with proper work habits.
Realistic goals are dreams that you are willing to consistently work toward, and fantasies are dreams you won’t work for.
