WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS PARKING SITUATION! STUDENTS WILL NOT BUY PARKING PERMITS IF A SPOT ISN'T AVAILABLE FOR THEM. THE STUDENT POPULATION HAS BEEN INCREASING OVER THE YEARS. LANDER MUST STEP UP THEIR GAME!

Dr. Ball,
I dont know how often you make it up to the third floor in the LC, but next time we have a rainy day take an elevator ride up there and see how many garbage cans, buckets and other water catching containers are sitting around. This has been an issue for quite some time. How about pulling some money from somewhere and repairing the leaky roof?

Yeah Ben! Lander Students Unite! Lander's got faculty members and staff members, and it's time to make the student a member, too!

John--I brought the parking issue to Dr. Ball's attention during the very first Council of Presidents meeting (the new "student government") in the fall of 2008. Dr. Ball was dismissive and adamantly held on to the foolish notion that there is ample parking. I believe that the parking situation will never improve unless Dr. Ball is forced to drive around for half an hour hoping that someone will actually drive away and not just open the trunk to swap out textbooks!

Dr. Ball,
I would like to know, what are your plans for the Lander at the University Center of Greenville? I am aware that we have been here since 2002 (?) and we have had our number of students go up and down. The curriculum for the university center Lander may need an overhaul. I know we lost a valuable commodity the psychology program; this produced a great number of students.
The University Center says it only has enough funds for two years, which now is only 11/2 years. Do you know what the UCG tends to do and if they are going to stay around?
I think the Lander UCG is beneficial to Lander and our community; we just need to make changes with our programs or improve the programs we have. More and more students are looking at health, science, and business. Could we offer some programs that would benefit someone maybe receiving a certificate or training for a job or career? Are there any plans to research what is interesting to students and what they are looking for in the career field? I think adjunct instructors would be more beneficial and more DE rooms at Lander would be helpful, so we could broadcast more classes at the same time. Some more ideas, teaching certificates, web graphics certificates or some courses that may help in job promotions.
Maybe we could organize a better transfer agreement with GTC and Spartanburg community college.
I like Lander and Lander UCG. I liked the classes and class arrangements at the university Center and I liked that we did not have more than 16 students per class. I was able to take evening courses which helped when you have a daytime job. The DE classrooms did not bother me, I felt we were equally taught even though some students where on TV. The Professors were very understanding and nice.
The UCG has been around for twenty years, and I do think this is a wonderful idea. There are many institutions that have areas they instruct classes in local communities, but I have yet to see another UCG with 7 different universities this is convenient for everyone to get their degree of choice.
Maybe we could find a better way for students to get their 100-200 level courses since financial aid only pays for one institution and transfer students have a difficult time paying to take both GTC and Lander at the same time. However, I do know in New York my sister had to do the same thing when she was taking classes at one institution and had to take her general education courses at another. I do not know what we could do to help the transitions from one institution to another for students.
Thanks for your time and answering my questions.
Keep our Lander UCG, please!!!

Dr. Ball,
I want to know what else this school does for the environment besides just taking straws and trays away. Sure, this helps, but its not much when people drive gas-powered golf carts around when you can stand on one side of campus and see the other.

Dr. Ball,

Why doesn't Lander have a student government body anymore because I don't see how the 14-week (and previous 13-week) schedule, the smoking ban, and the lack of parking among other things have not been discussed with students?

Dr. Ball,
Many would like to know was it so hard to add a fall break in this semester and why couldn't it be done last semester when there was such importance for students to be able to vote? It just puzzles me how we have a fall break all this time skip one year, which is the year we needed it most, and then we regain it. Did the candidates for presidency have anything to do with your lack of support for fall break last year?

When is the busted up brickway at the entrance area of the LC going to be repaired? Dodging the hazard area is a pain. Especially for handicapped students.

What obstacles are there in providing yet another Dr. Ball signature Lander first: Greek Housing?

Could you put up some lighting around the four-way stop for the safety of the students? It gets dangerously dark around there at night.

Whats going on with parking...Im reluctant to buy a 50 parking pass when theres no where to park when i get here. Realistically, leaving 25-30 min before class starts is what you have to do and thats a bit ridiculous considering the school is making 50/per person per parking pass and we really dont get anything out of it other than a class tardy and a parking ticket......something needs to be done

Dr. Ball,

What do you think Lander University offers that no other university or college in that state has that makes LU appealing to students?
